How to Open Disillusionment Chests in Hogwarts Legacy?
As you start your first day in Hogwarts, you'll most likely explore the school grounds and eventually, reach Hogsmeade to gather your supplies. In different areas, you will come across this white chests with gold embellishments on it, and a single eye that serves as its lock. When you do approach it, it will open its eye and lock itself, stopping you from opening it. To open these Disillusionment Chests, you will need to progress the story and complete the Main Quest, Secrets of the Restricted Section.
During the course of the quest, when you are about to sneak in the restricted section of the library, Sebastian teaches you the Disillusionment spell. Once you learn the spell, later on, you can now use it to become invisible and to sneak up to the chest. Remember, it must not see you, so use Disillusionment at a distance then walk up to it. the interact button will appear when you're close enough, and you can then open the chest.

Lower Grand Staircase
- Location: Facing the entrance of the Slytherin Common Room, for some students, it is a dead end, turn left to find the chest next to the Kelpie Statue.

Viaduct Courtyard
- Location: from the Floo Flame checkpoint, go up the stairs and proceed to the back area that is closest to the castle's walls. You can reach it while flying on a Broom as well.
Astronomy Wing Disillusionment Chests

- Location: Head down the second floor of the tower, you'll find it just by the corner.
Professor Fig's Classroom
- Location: The chest is inside the bathroom next to Professor Fig's Classroom. The bathroom is the one with the Floo Flame point next to it.

Hogwarts - West Tower
- Location: Fast travel to the Beasts Classroom Floo Flame and proceed to the top of the stone steps that lead back into the castle's west tower. At the top of the stairs, turn right, you'll find the chest at the corner.
Hogwarts North Exit (Storage Room)
- Location: From the North Exit Floo Flame, turn back to the school grounds and go left. Head up the stairs and then make another left. Go inside the storage room to find the chest.
Bell Tower Courtyard
- Location: Fast travel to the Bell Tower Courtyard Floo Flame, face it and go up the stairs on the right, all the way to the top. You'll find the chest at a narrow corridor.

- Location: the chest can be found above the spiral staircase that leads you to the back of the castle. The Map Chamber becomes available during the Main Quest, Jackdaw’s Rest.

- Location: You can find it inside the shop.
Dogweed and Deathcap (Outside)
- Location: Outside of Dogweed and Deathcap, climb to reach the top of the shop. You'll see it next to a small stone hut.
House Across Dogweed and Deathcap
- Location: From Dogweed and Deathcap, cross the bridge and look at the house on the left, you'll find the chest just outside the house.
Brood and Peck
- Location: Across the house where the second Disillusionment Chest was, you'll see Brood and Peck, walk up a bit towards the short bridge and you'll see on the right, you can go down towards some bushes. The chest is there.
Dervish and Banges Shop
- Location: Head to Gladrag's Wizardwear at the Town Circle. Dervish and Banges is in the same building where Gladrag's Wizardwear is, the chest is next to the shop of Dervish and Banges.
Eastern Outskirts
- Location: From Dervish and Banges Shop, head to the eastern outskirts of Hogsmeade until you reach a hut. Check behind the hut to find the chest.
Hogsmeade Central Bridge
- Location: You can find the chest in an alleyway next to the central bridge of Hogsmeade.
Hogsmeade Cemetery
- Location: Make your way to the Hogsmeade Cemetery and look behind the large crypt at the center. The chest is behind it.
Flutes and Lutes
- Location: From the Three Broomsticks Innn, head east to find the Flutes and Lutes shop, an establishment that sells musical instruments. Outside the shop, go behind to find a set of stone steps that goes up to the shop's private room. It is locked and requires the Alohomora spell to unlock it. You'll need to complete the main quest, The Caretaker's Lunar Lament, in order to learn the Alohomora spell. The chest is inside the room.
Hogsmeade - South
The Magic Neep - West Side
- Location: From The Magic Neep shop, go west, where you'll see a house. The chest is just outside of the house where a cart is parked.
Northwest Bridge
- Location: The chest is under the northwest bridge of Hogsmeade.
Southwest Area
- Location: Head southwest where you'll find an old house. Check behind to find it next to a broken cart and a Moth Mirror Puzzle.
Tomes and Scrolls Shop
- Location: Head to Tomes and Scrolls and check inside the bedroom behind the front desk. The chest is inside the bedroom.
South Hogsmeade Floo Flame
- Location: Near the South Hogsmeade Floo Flame, you'll find another abandoned house there. Check behind to find the chest.
Southeast Outskirts
- Location: The chest is on a terrace located at the southeast outskirts of Hogsmeade.
