In the Shadow of the Mountain is a Main Quest in Hogwarts Legacy. In the Shadow of the Mountain has you and Sebastian Sallow facing many Ranrok's loyalists. Main Quests are mandatory Quests that tell the main story of the game, and completing all of them will accomplish the completion of the game. Still, that doesn't mean that Subquests, Challenges and Collections are not important, as these quests grant very useful items as rewards for completion and also contain a lot of Lore.

Meet Sebastian Along the Coast
You need to head through a mine in order to reach the Southern Regions. You can't do it in any other way. Not walking nor flying. Once you come out from the other side, you can fly again. Head to the quest marker to find Sebastian Sallow.
Travel up the Switchbacks
Use your charmed compass by pressing up on your D-pad, and proceed to follow the golden trail towards your destination.
Defeat all Enemies
Once you manage to arrive at your location, prepare for a fight. You have to defeat all enemies.
Continue up the Mountain
After you loot the area, press up again on your d-pad to reveal the path.
Defeat the Guards
Once you reach your destination, prepare for another fight.
Enter the Caverns
There is a Floo Flame here, called Tower Tunnel, make sure to activate it. As you finish looting everything, enter the caverns.
Search for Runes
Face the spiders as you head down the tunnels. Loot the area and continue down through the spider egg tunnel.
Defeat all of the Enemies
Be ready to face some more spiders in the area. Defeat them all.
Unlock the Rune Door
After looting the area, face the door and cast Confringo at the spider web that is covering a rune switch to the right of the door. There is another one behind you and two by the door.
Search for the Triptych Segment
Enter through the door and you will find Isidora's Journal Entry 4/7 in an open chest located just in front of you. Continue on.
Defeat the Troll
You will have to fight a powerful mountain troll, accompanied by a few spiders.
Search for the Triptych Segment
Head to the main room and use Reparo on the broken stairs, then climb them up. Loot that room upstairs to find Isidora's Journal Entry 5/7. After this move the crate by the cracked wall, in order to climb it. Climb up the stairs on your right side, to obtain some more loot. Then head back and take the left stairs. Keep going.
Eventually you will find Isidore's Journal Entrey 6/7 on a table. Loot everything on sight and continue forward.
Unlock the Rune Door
You can see two of the three runes switches, the third one is hidden behind a Bombarda wall, just next to the door. When you hit all three, access through the door.
Investigate the Chamber
You will find the final piece of Isidora's Journal (7/7) on a table. Go up the stairs and you can find some loot there. Pick up the final piece of the triptych on the table.
Use the Magic Passageway
Proceed through the crystallized door. This will lead you to the undercroft.
Place the canvas into the Triptych
Finally, approach the canvas and insert the last piece of the canvas in it to end the quest.
Hogwarts Legacy In the Shadow of the Mountain Information
Sebastian discovered more of Ranrok’s Loyalists swarming around another cavern. We decided to fight our way past them and find out what they were looking for. In our search we discovered more runes like the ones on the note from the triptych. We then battled a troll and a nasty infestation of spiders before finding the final piece to the triptych and another passageway back to the Undercroft. We returned and placed the final canvas in the triptych, unlocking a Pensieve memory. We watched it and learned that ancient magic has healing potential. Sebastian believes we can use this power to cure Anne.
