The Centaur and the Stone is a Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy. Side Quests are not required to advance in the main story of the game, but still completing these Quests can be useful to obtain Rewards for completing them. These quests sometimes serve as tutorials for new activities and may contain some Lore or background of the Harry Potter Universe.

Meet Poppy near Irondale at the cave

Fast travel to the Irondale Floo Flame then use your broom to fly to the marking south of there. This quest can only be started during the day, therefore if it's not then wait in the glowing circle to go through time.

Enter the Moonstone Garden

Once you arrive, enter the Moonstone Garden and explore the area.

Find the moonstone

Go down the south route in the first room. Once the dugbogs in the second chamber have been defeated, go through the door to the east and go along that route until you get to a room with a moth door mechanism. To uncover a moth stand on the south wall, use Accio on both handles. Take both moths with Lumos, then deliver them to the door's moth mechanisms on either side. Spin the moth mechanisms with Depulso till the door opens. Defeat the dugbogs in the next area, then leap into the water behind them. When you find the area with bubbling water, jump in. Then, you'll be taken somewhere else. Destroy the thorns obstructing the way by moving east. Take the spiral staircase up, remove a further thorny block, and then ascend the ledge. From the tree's top, take the Scholars' Moonstone.

Talk to Poppy

You'll be offered the option to leave now or at a later time. If you wish to explore the region a little more and then speak with Poppy again, choose to leave later.

Place the moonstone inside the henge

You'll be teleported to a different place when you leave. From the starting point, descend and then climb up the nearby hill to the east. Head to the middle henge and set the Scholars' Moonstone after scaling two ledges.

Collect the moonstone

A cutscene will playout, and now you can retrieve the moonstone from the henge.

Talk to Poppy

To finish the task, speak with Poppy. Then you'll be brought back to Hogwarts.
