Tools in Hogwarts Legacy refers to Potions and magical Plants that can be used during Combat. These Tools provide different benefits or buffs to the players, as well as assisting them in certain situations. The right use of a Tool can mean the difference between life and death.
How to access The Tool Wheel?
The Tool Wheel can be accessed by holding down L1/LB on the controller. Here you can access all the Potions and Plants, you are currently carrying and slot one into the quick slot.
Tap L1/LB in order to use the item located on the quick slot.
These items provide many bonuses to the players, such as the Rock Skin Potion that reduces incoming damage, the Wiggengeld Potion which increases your health or the Focus potion, which reduces the cooldown on some Spells.
If a slot is unusable yet, players will find the locked symbol on that slot

Hogwarts Legacy Tools
Plants in Hogwarts Legacy are a type of items that can be used for multiple purposes during combats, such as being summoned as a tower-like being and dealing damage, or stunning all Enemies on a selected area. Plants can be created by the players in The Room of Requirement, buy seed packets at a Merchant in Hogsmeade, as well as found in the wilderness.
Plants, just like Potions, can be assigned to the Tool Wheel. The Tool Wheel can be accessed by holding 
, or if you have a selected tool, you can use it by tapping .

Potions in Hogwarts Legacy gathers information about Magical Consumables that have specific effects to the one that is consuming them. Potions can be brewed at a Potion Station once the recipe has be learned and the required Ingredients have been gathered. Potions are often used for recovery of health, or stamina, they also grant temporary bonuses and effects. Potions and Ingredients may be familiar to Harry Potter fans, not only from the Books, or the Movies, but also from previous Harry Potter games.
Where to Learn Potions or Get Potions in Hogwarts Legacy
Basic Potion Recipes can be purchased and learned at the J. Pippin's Potions Shop in Hogsmeade run by Parry Pippin. Players will be required to acquire or brew some Potions for Potions Class and as part of Professor Sharp's Assignments: Professor Sharp's Assignment 1, Professor Sharp's Assignment 2. Ready-made Potions can be purchased from a number of Merchants or can be brewed once learned at any Potions Station.
Gathering Ingredients for Potions in Hogwarts Legacy
Ingredients can be gathered or foraged throughout the different Locations on the Map. Other Ingredients are obtained as enemy drops. Players can also easily obtain Ingredients for a price by purchasing them from various Merchants. J. Pippin's Potions and The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade are known to stock a few basic Ingredients. Players who have attended Herbology Class and learned how to plant seeds can also plant and grow Ingredients at a Potting Table.
Brewing Potions in Hogwarts Legacy
Players will first learn how to brew Potions in Potions Class with Professor Sharp. To brew a Potion, players will need to have learned to make the desired p
otion from a recipe and have the required Ingredients ready. Players must also have access to a Potions Station. There will be a few available Potions stations in the Potions Classroom. Progress through the main quests to gain access to the Room of Requirement where you can eventually use the Conjuring Spell to conjure your own Potions station with the required Spellcraft. Once you have conjured a Potions Station you can return to Room of Requirement to brew a Potion anytime.
Potion Stations come in different sizes and designs. Larger Potion Stations will allow you to brew multiple Potions at a time. Potions Station spellcrafts can be obtained form the Tomes and Scrolls shop in Hogsmeade.

Improving Potions Hogwarts Legacy with Talents
A Potions Potency can be improved by unlocking the related Core Talents & Room of Requirement Talents with Talent Points. Talent Points are earned by leveling up in the game. Specific Talents have the ability to increase the effects of Potions once used. See all Talents that will help improve the effects of your Potions:
- Wiggenweld Potency I: Wiggenweld heals you to a greater effect.
- Wiggenweld Potency II: Wiggenweld heals you to a greater effect.
- Edurus Potion Potency: Edurus Potion makes you invulnerable and deflects projectile attacks back to enemies.
- Invisibility Potion Potency: The invisibility Potion's undetectable effect lasts for a longer period of time.
- Maxima Potion Potency: Maxima Potion causes attacks to have additional increased damage and break enemy shields.
- Thunderbrew Potency: The range and damage of the potion effect are greatly increased.
- Focus Potion Potency: The duration of the Focus Potion's effect will be extended when any spell from the Spell Set is cast during its use.
J. Pippin's Potions Hogwarts Legacy
Wizards can buy Potions and Ingredients in several places, of course, the rarer the item, the most expensive it will be. But not all Potions or ingredients will be available at a store, Wizards may have to visit other store, or consider craft the desired Potions themselves. Also some rare ingredients may not be found in stores either, so Wizards may have to gather them from the game world, or maybe obtain them from a creature drop or as reward for completing a quest.
The most notable of the Potion Merchants is Parry Pippin who Runs J. Pippin's Potions.
J Pippin's Potions, established in 1753, is the apothecary in Hogsmeade where proprietor Parry Pippin sells a wide variety of potions and their ingredients. His stock changes up and introduces new potions, so his inventory may vary after each visit.
Ingredients & Herbology
It is wise to be always on the lookout for new ingredients, not at all Potions can be found at the store and the only way to obtain them will be to craft them. Most common ingredients are usually sold by Potions sellers, but again, rare items or high value ones may only be obtainable by finding them in the wild.
Most ingredients are taken from plants of the wild. Plants are studied in the Harry Potter world in Herbology, and it is believed that some Herbology elements will be added to Hogwarts Legacy. Not all of the ingredients are related to plants, some reagents are related to creatures.
Potions Class in Hogwarts Legacy
Wizards are able to brew their own Potions at a brewing station, but it's required for Wizards to know the recipes of each potion to be able to brew them after attending Potions Class which will be an available Main Quests early in the game. Players can usually attend the lessons after completing a Herbology Class. Tis will require you to at least be at a level 4. Attending Potions Class will walk you through how to collecting a some basic Ingredients and how to brew your first potion. Completing the class will grant you access to the Potions Station.
