Traits in Hogwarts Legacy is a system that allows players, by using the Enchanted Loom, to improve pieces of gear. Hogwarts Legacy Traits and equipment rarity: Depending on their rarity, defensive pieces of Gear may have higher Traits slots levels to weave Traits into them. Traits enhance the defensive capabilities of gear by, for example, reducing damage done by certain types of Enemies.
Players need to find the trait recipe before being able to apply a Trait. Some of these can be found in Bandit Camps throughout the world.
- How to Unlock The Loom: You won't be able to craft Traits until you unlock the Enchanted Loom. You must progress the Main Quests until you get to Beasts Class, then complete The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom to obtain the Loom for the Room of Requirement.
- How to Craft Traits & Get Trait Materials: You will need to rescue Magical Beasts to harvest materials for traits. See our Complete Guide to Magical Beast Den Locations on our Interactive Hogwarts Legacy Map.
Hogwarts Legacy Trait Rarities and Trait Slots
As previously mentioned, depending on the rarity of a piece of Gear, players can determine the Trait slot level it has.
- Superb gear has a Trait Slot Level 1
- Extraordinary gear has a Trait Slot Level 2
- Legendary gear has a Trait Slot Level 3
Be Ready to Customize your Traits
The world in Hogwarts Legacy is immense, and exploring diverse Locations may lead to distinct dangers and Enemies. In order to be as ready as possible to face them, always check your Traits and change them accordingly. Not doing this may put you at a disadvantage against a certain type of enemy or Boss.
For example, if you are taking on a Quest that has you facing a lot of Dark Wizards. It is a good idea to add Protego Shielding in as many trait slots as possible, to diminish the damage Dark Wizards inflict you.
Where to find Trait Recipes?
If players want to learn more or better Traits, they have to find Trait Recipes first. Trait Recipes allow players to learn a trait, and there are plenty to be found in the world of Hogwarts Legacy. Green Trait Recipes are obtained as rewards for Combat Challenges. Other Trait Recipes can be found at Bandit Camps. They will be located inside the Collection Chests within.
- Each Trait has a I, II, and III variation. Always just increasing the efficacy of the Trait, e.g. normal "greatly", "significantly"
- The crafting materials for all Tier I is the same: 1 Puffskein Fur
- The crafting materials for all Tier 2 is the same: 1 Diricawl Feather
- The crafting materials for all Tier 3 is the same: 1 Kneazle Fur
- You will always find a Trait in the Collection Chest in a Bandit Camp and it will be random from the Exploration category in Collections
- You can reload before opening it to change what Trait is inside, so it's recommended to save before opening
- You can get from Tier 1 to Tier 3 in any Bandit Camp, it is random
- Not all Traits are from Bandit Camps, but this is a reliable way to get some

Ok took a while to farm it and test.
Concentration III, the main one everyone is interested in...
9% multiplicative.
Dmg was 623 start, 679, 741, 807, 880, 959, 1046.
For now i will not test different buffs interacting. Sorry
More testing concluded. Incendio III upgrade gives 15% boost each BUT MULTIPLICATIVE.
Dmg from 521 at no traits to 599, 689, 792, 911, 1048, 1205 final at 6. Tested each step.
Ok. Some testing done for numbers here. Ambush III 30% dmg stachs additive so 180% max at 6 piece.

we all want the numbers but will this game keep enough traction for somebody to actually test and figure this out?

if you destroy an item with a trait on it do you get the trait to be able to use on another item?

Arktix on YT has a video stating that multiple of the same traits will stack and not by adding the value but instead multiplying (very good results from stacking). I haven't seen anything on difference between trait that boost all spells vs ones for specific spells but if destiny 2 can be used as a similar model the specific spells would be higher values and the one boosted spell would provide more damage than your other spells having the "boost damage of all spells" trait because of multiplication

do multiple of the same trait stack? also, is the concentration trait giving less increased damage to for example confringo, than the trait that increases confrigo damage or is it the same?

what does increased/greatly increased/significantly increased mean do we have numbers?
Now for one i was excited for.... Binding III. Presumably the upgrade for stealth takedowns....
15% only additive
max 90% with 6 piece
Easily outclassed by ambush III 30% additive and ambush works for any attack cast during invis. Even in the middle of a boss, going invis during knockdowns can REALLY boost your damage. Again... 180% more dmg with 6 piece
