A Bird in the Hand is a Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy. Side Quests are not required to advance in the main story of the game, but still completing these Quests can be useful to obtain Rewards for completing them. These quests sometimes serve as tutorials for new activities and may contain some Lore or background of the Harry Potter Universe.

Meet Poppy Southwest of Brocburrow
The Brocburrow Floo Flame is reachable by fasttravel. If Poppy isn't present, simply wait in the shining circle since the quest can only be started at night.
Talk to Dorran
Inside the den, Dorran can be located. Speak with the Centaur.
Figure out how to enter the ruins
Put the Scholars' Moonstone on the pedestal in the middle. The pillars will cast light as a result. Drag the pillars in Accio to shine a light on the symbols written on the door in front of you. Move a pillar so that it lights the snowflake symbol in the west and another pillar so that it lights the circle symbol with a dot in the middle in the southwest.
Search for the Snidgets
Head down the stairs and through the opened door to access The Gilded Perch. Go north within, then east, avoiding the thorns and huge tree roots that are in your way. Use Accio on the block on the west-facing shelf at the "dead end" and move it to the northern pedestal in the room's middle. The handle-equipped crate should next be moved to the ledge to the south using Wingardium Leviosa. The next block is up there, so use the crate to ascend. Bring it to the southern pedestal in the room's middle using Accio. Use Incendio and Glacius on the blocks to the north and south, respectively, before entering the space. Poachers will ambush you.
Defeat the Poachers
A group of Poachers will start to attack you. Defeat them all to proceed further.
Unlock the door to the Snidget Sanctuary
Simply interact with the door to open it by going to the eastern entrance, the one with the sun and moon symbols. To accomplish the quest, enter the room.
