Bandit Camps in Hogwarts Legacy represents camps where a number of bandits reside. Bandit Camps are divided into three different categories, Bandit Camp Castle, Medium Bandit Camp, and Small Bandit Camp. Every bandit camp has a collection chest located inside and every one of these collection chests contains a random Trait Recipe, which allows players to improve pieces of their gear. The Trait Recipes found inside collection chests will vary depending on the bandit camp you got it from. Small Bandit Camps will have only have Trait level 1, whereas Medium Bandit Camps will have Trait level 1 and 2, then Bandit Camp Castles will have Trait level 2 and 3.
It is possible to retrieve the trait recipes without killing any bandits and just using Disillusionment.

For anyone else out there hunting for specific traits, this article is wrong. First, you absolutely can sneak in and grab the chests with the traits without taking out all of the guards, they're the chests marked on your map. Second, traits received seem to be completely random. I got a level 3 trait from one of the first *small* bandit camps I cleared. Good hunting.
