Charles Rookwood's Trial is a Main Quest in Hogwarts Legacy. Charles Rookwood's Trial depicts the second trial for the playable character. Main Quests are mandatory Quests that tell the main story of the game, and completing all of them will accomplish the completion of the game. Still, that doesn't mean that Subquests, Challenges and Collections are not important, as these quests grant very useful items as rewards for completion and also contain a lot of Lore.

Meet Fig at Rookdwood Castle
Fast travel to Rookwood Castle, or fly there to meet Eleazar Fig
Speak with Professor Fig
Talk to Eleazar Fig, to devise a plan.
Enter Rookwood Castle
Proceed to the next marker, and you will be ambushed by loyalists. Use Wingardium Leviosa on the crate and place it near the wall, climb it and a cutscene will trigger.
Clear the area of enemies after the cinematic. Loot everything. There are also two chests containing Traits. Head up the ramparts and enter the castle. Then step on the scaffolding to drop down.
In this next room, step on the platform located in the middle and cast Basic Cast at the three highlighted rune switches found on both sides of the room. You have to do this quickly. If you manage to do it right, the door will open. Enter through it.
Find Charles Rookwood's Portrait
Proceed through the area, and you will eventually reach the second keeper's portrait.
Connect with Ancient Magic
A pool of ancient magic will appear, investigate it to reveal a portal.
Enter Charles Rookwood's Trial
Enter through the portal and interact with the door, this will begin the second trial.
Complete Charles Rookwood's Trial
Move through the hall and head upstairs to find another pool of ancient magic. Turn back down and stand in front of the portal from its blue side. Cast Wingardium Leviosa at the chest, on the left to be able to access it.
While facing the portal from its blue side, cast Wingardium Leviosa on the silhouette pillar on the right and place it halfway where the pool of ancient magic was and the opposite ledge.
Now go to the crate you just move, but don't do it through the portal. Now it should be a pillar, that allows you to climb to the other side and move on.
Along the next two bridges, stand halfway through the second one. Look to your left to find a rune switch. Use Basic cast on it to reveal a path leading to a small chest.
Head back and move to the next portal.
Activate the ancient magic pool and go around the portal. Enter through it from the blue side, this will spawn a chest. Cast basic cast at the rune switch located to the left of the pillar that is blocking the way. Doing this will reposition the portal.
You can see the pillar as a sillhouette now, use Wingardium Leviosa on it. As you are holding the pillar with your spell, move to either side, to reveal the path forward.
Climb down the stairs and access the portal area. You will find resistance here. There are 2 Pensieve Protector. One is visible, but the second one is invisible. You have to step through the portal to reveal the invisible one.
Once they are defeated, continue to find another pool of ancient magic in the next room.
You will notice that there is a rune switch behind the portal. Stand next to it and cast Basic Cast at the switch to rotate the platform with the portal. This will give you access to a small chest.
Step through the portal heading towards the statue and immediately check the right side to find a crate. Use Wingardium Leviosa on it and take it back to the rotating platform. Operate the Rune Switch again by using Basic Cast.
The platform should be in the starting position and the crate visible. Proceed to the other side to continue.
In the next room, activate the pool of ancient magic, this will cause a pillar to appear.
Climb down the stairs, and access the portal area. You will find two more Pensieve Protector. Once again, one is visible and the other one is invisible. The process is the same, step through the portal
When they are defeated, step through the bluse side of the portal and cast Basic Cast at the rune switch on the wall in order to rotate the bridge.
Climb up to where the crate is and use Depulso on it to shoot it through the portal. Use Wingardium Leviosa to put it back where it was and enter through the portal again.
You should be able to climb the pillar and then the rotating platform. Shoot the rune switch to rotate the platform and keep going through the main path. More Enemies will appear. Again, use the portal to reveal the invisible ones.
After the wave of Enemies, a Pensieve Guardian will appear. But don't worry, it is the exact same boss you have previously faced in the first trial.
Continue exploering Charles Rookwood's Trial
After the fight, head to the next marker and interact with the pensieve to unlock a memory.
Exit Charles Rookwood's Trial
Leave the chamber using the crystallized door to return to the Map Chamber.
Speak to Percival
Approach Percival Rackham's portrait to talk to him.
Speak to Professor Fig
Speak to Eleazar Fig to finish the quest.
Hogwarts Legacy Charles Rookwood's Trial Information
I met Professor Fig at Rookwood Castle. It was crawling with Victor Rookwood’s lot and Ranrok’s Loyalists. Once Fig and I made our way inside, we discovered that the Loyalists had broken into some sort of repository and let something out. This was alarming to Charles Rookwood. Ultimately, I completed the trial and viewed Charles Rookwood’s Pensive memory. Upon returning to the Map Chamber, the Keepers introduced me to former headmistress, Niamh Fitzgerald. I am to proceed with her trial as soon as she’s sure that I can reach it.
