Portrait in a Pickle is a Side Quest in Hogwarts Legacy. Side Quests are not required to advance in the main story of the game, but still completing these Quests can be useful to obtain Rewards for completing them. These quests sometimes serve as tutorials for new activities and may contain some Lore or background of the Harry Potter Universe.

Portrait in a Pickle Hogwarts Legacy Walkthrough

Speak to the portrait in the back of the library

South of the Library Floo Flame Fast travel point, talk to Ferdinand Octavius Pratt, a painting.

Talk to Astoria Crickett at the Three Broomsticks

A Ravenclaw student named Astoria can be seen at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade.

Find the ruins where Ferdinand's other frame is being held

To reach Marunweem Lake, use a broom or Fast travel to the south. The place to look into is Marunweem Ruins.

Find and speak with Ferdinand in the ruins

Arrive on the northern side and be invicible. As you approach the basement stairs on the sly, continue on the trail until you come to a Level 2 lock. To open it, use Alohomora.

Take Ferdinand's frame to the Three Broomsticks or the Hog's Head Inn

To finish the quest, quickly return to Hogsmeade and set up Ferdinand's frame to complete the quest.

Burn Ferdinand's alternate frame

Use Incendio on Ferdinand's painting after selecting the dialogue options Returning you to the Three Broomsticks isn't my only option and I could burn you.
